Default 79 f 250 351m carb advice

Bought this old truck and it had an edelbrock 600 1405 on it. Threw a 71 10' slide in camper in the bed and took off. Truck runs ok on hiway but when you slow down in town it surges idles way high and hard to start. Took some carb cleaner sprayed around carb and found every linkage is sucking air. Ordering new 600 today but I'm not sure what jets or metering rods to use. I will be in southwest for winter elev. 700 to 3000 can I get buy with 98 with 92 for secondary s and be ok. Just looking for power for the hills and keep some decent fuel milage. Dana 60 3:54 gears and a 4 speed was getting about 10 with the old leaky carb. 55 to 60 mph. Thanks for looking.
