I have a 95 f-250 7.3L. This sounds like a problem thatI have had, white smoke all of a sudden misfire, no power eventualy didnt start. I found through diagnosing the oil level was low causing not enough oil presure to operate injectors. The problem was the injector o-rings went bad causing the engine to burn the oil and lowerd the oil level and starved the highpressureoilpump. I replaced the o-rings and it ran fine. hope Im not too late.

I had this same problem on a 95. Changed my cps and it would start easy on a warm day but cold starts were still an issue. I found out that it was my glow plugs were dead and it was too cold to start without cranking for several minutes. If you have a block warmer on the truck you can use that to facilitate starting. 15 minutes is plenty for me. If not replace your glow plugs and cps and try to start it. The glow plugs are a huge amount cheaper than injectors (just did mine).

I HAVE PLUGGED THE BLOCK HEATER IN AND THAT WILL MAKE IT START BUT IT WILL BARLEY RUN AND IT BLOWS WHITE SMOKE THAT REEKS OF DIESEL FUEL.

THINGS I HAVE DONE TO TRY AND FIX THE TRUCK:
1. CHANGED THE CAM SENSOR
2. CLANED WHERE THE FUEL FILTER SITS
3. NEW FUEL FILTER
4. NEW AIR FILTER
5. CHANGED OIL
6. CHECKED THE OIL IN THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP
7. I DID A VISUAL CHECK OF WIRES, CONECTORS AND FUSES
8. CHECKED FRAME RAIL FUEL PUMP
9. DID A METER CHECK OF THE GLOW PLUG RELAYS [BUT STILL IM UNDESIDED ABOUT THE RELAYS]
10. USED A SCANNING TOOL TO GET CODES 231 - 340 - 470 - 1294 - 1316 and it says myinjector pressure is 2300 psi at crank & THE RPM AT CRANK WAS 100 TO 120.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Default 99 f250 7.3l DIT problems

hey guys hows it going
im a diesel mechanic, i ve worked on anything and everything , just no one seems to have the right answers about my problem and the dealer aint worth there two cents, lol
im wondering if u can assit me wit a problem with my 99 f250 7.3l dit 150,000mi

ive had rough running problems for a few weeks then it ran fine, then about 4 days ago its started spiting and running rough then stalled, could not get to fire unless it sat for about 20min, and it would only run rough and no power

went to dealer and put new cps sensor in it, (it was under recall) still wouldnt start so we hooked up the computer and started cheching systems and elimanating thing, i found a broken harness at my right side valve cover and replaced in, cleared all the codes and it fired right up ran awsome, and as i pulled out onto the street it stalled, i got it runnung again but it was rough, we rescanned it and got codes for #1 and #2 injectors not connected, i could move the truck but at very little power, so i had it towed home and started checking the pcm,imd and all sensor wiring and plugs, ive done all the resistance and voltage test between the idm and pcm circuits,

i have a few idm codes about a year ago, the engine light woul come on and the truck would have reduced power, id pull over and clear the codes and the truck would run fine then it happened about 5 months later while off roading i was in first gear crawling over rocks and stuff at high rpm and the code can back a few time, took about 4 times to clear it 4 good and its been good till about a few weeks ago

at the dealer we checked all the hpop pressures and % as well as the ipr system all are good

i can start it about everyfew hours it runs rough and will only stay running about 2-3minutes and stalls,

im pretty sure its the injector driver module, but as they r pricy i thought id see if u guys have any ideas,

thx for the help, and if i can hepl u with anything dont be afarid to ask

thx matt

I am having the same problem as "THEGOOSE" on my 1997 F250 Powerstroke with 275K. I think my injector O-Rings could be bad. My truck started to knock and lose power today and I had to get it towed home. This thread helped me out though, glad I found it.
