Default After market fresh air intake

I have a 2018 F250 6.2 liter with about 21k miles. I just added a K&N air intake to it. Hoped to get some additional HP and gas mileage. Definitely better HP but the jury is still out on the gas mileage. After about 600 miles the truck broke down and had to go to the shop. The result is the throttle body and gasket needs to be replaces. I asked if the addition of the K&N air intake was the cause of the problem and they said they can't say that for sure but can't rule it out. Also added that their lead mechanic is not a fan of the aftermarket air intakes.

Has anyone heard of this being an issue?

Thanks
Chris

I would return the air intake to its original configuration. I am no fan of K&N. Wouldn't you think if it was better, it would be on there from day one. I have heard of their air filters damaging MAF sensors.
