Default engine alarm indicator

Recently I have noticed that the engine indicator was on in Amber color. I did not know how long it had been there, or was a normal thing. So I kept forgetting to give it more attention and look in the manual for a explanation. Today it was not on. I got to thinking maybe it could have been on because the weather was cold and the engine possibly had not warmed up. I never looked at the temperature gauge while it was on though. I'm just taking a guess. I don't know if it that is one of the reason for it coming on.
