Engine Oil Leak Powerstroke
I have a 2003 F-350 powerstroke ,it has developed a oil leak on my high pressure oil pump. I have found a o-Rind that appears to be protruding, I have been unable to remove the oil lines. Is there a special tool required or is there a trick to removing these lines.
There is a release tool 303-625 to remove the HPOP lines, but you can either improvise at tool as pictured, or, you can just untighten the complete fitting from the side of the HPOP with the line intact to replace the orings.. A tad harder, but a crows foot on the end of an extension will get by and will allow access too the fitting/s in the crowded area.. A little tricky to get the fitting back in alignment and thread started with the hose connected, but the hose/s generally drop back into position or close on their own.. Remove the small plug on the back of the HPOP to drain down the oil below the fitting level/s, then remove the line fitting towards the end of the HPOP.. Second the line fitting closest to the front.. Ford offers a re sealing kit for both line fitting orings, as well as the rear drain plug oring, and includes the thread locker.. Think its about 25.00ish or so.. The valves and springs under the fittings will be below the fitting 'deck', but best to leave them in place..
