Default F-250 7.3 Oil leak?

I bought a 2000 f-250 7.3 diesel off ebay recently and when it arrived it would not start. After charging the battery's and a new fuel filter I got it started but it sounded horrible. I checked the oil and there was none in it. Ebays buyer protection is a joke and I can't get anything done. I've called a diesel mechinaic but he can't get here for a few days. Does anybody here know the most common of oil leaks?

Default RE: F-250 7.3 Oil leak?

hi, the most common area is the fittings on the HPOP oil pump -is there any evidence of oil leaking anywhere on the engine-if not then start the engine and remove the oil filler cap-if thier is excessive blowby(puffs smoke out like a choo choo train you need a new engine or overhaul-if blowby is not excessive then fill the engine with oil and put some tracer dye in with the oil and look for bright yellow streaks with a blacklight to locate the oil leak. and yes ebays policies are a joke.
