F-350 Air Conditioner Problem
Hello Folks,
I've got an 2202 F350 7.3L Diesel Crewcab longbed SRW. I've got 60,000 on it...hardly broken in.
My question is if anyone has a similar truck...what kind of luck have you had with your a/c system??
Without going into all the details...had the evap core replaced at a dealer at 9000 miles. still hot...finally, another dealer found the orifice tube was missing at about 10,000.
Still not great. A real mechanic(independant) recharged the system and put dye in it....was a little low.....at about 40,000
Replaced the Evap at 54,000(original dealer job was no good...cracked pipe). Recharged.
Basically, on an 80-85 degree day with fairly high humidity, I can run the a/c on high fan...even running down the highway at 75-80[:@]mph and never turn it down and not get great cooling.
I was told by the mechanic, who works with a good dealer that has people that actually seem to know something that it's not the first they've heard of complaints on the A/C on this truck. Seems as if the engineers undersized the system for the vehicle...big cab. Apparently, many other truck makes and models have slightly different/larger systems as you move from a reg cab to a super cab to a crew cab or excursion type vehicle....
Any advice would be appreciated. Good thing I live in Maine....we only have a week of hot weather...ha ha...
Thanks!
Bubba

RE: F-350 Air Conditioner Problem
Buddy, I have a 01 F450 wrecker, the a/c works perfect, on a selective basis. I've chalked it up to it's a work vehicle and it's a luxury that once wasn't available so i'll enjoy it while it allow's me the priviledge. This conclusin was come to after the throwing of many a/c parts across the parking lot. HATE IT!!!!
