Default F-350 Differential Information

1980-SuperCab F350-5.8L/351M-2WD-Manual Sorry, my ignorance (first time).
I have an ooolllddd 1980 F-350 SuperCab with only 60K miles on it. While the original window spec sheet has been lost, I did have some references to what's on the truck. What I'm interested in is the differential, which was only stated as a 'limited slip rear axle', which I take to mean the differential. I noticed some oil under the differential on the pavement which I interpret as a leak in there (maybe just tightening up the cover bolts). I haven't crawled under (yet) to take a close look but did some limited research. Apparently, this differential could be a Dana 44 or 60; there are ways to identify which is which and I will try that in the near future. My question now is - what do I need to know/do before I dig in there? Is there a special oil needed for lubrication of the 'limited slip'; is there a gasket to replace if I take off the cover (and why would I) ; is there a drain/fill hole/bolt to get at do the drain/fill procedure; how much qt/ounce? I'm pretty competent at working on this stuff but don't want to wade in without some preliminary info.
Thanks for any/all thoughts/comments/help forthcoming.

Since you didn't provide the engine size, I randomly picked 4.9L and on my alldata software with cars 1981 or order, emissions only, so the following are for 1982 F-350 2WD 4.9L. And don't forget to check out other PDF files attached below.
You said there might be a leak there I think you should crawl under and inspect without taking anything apart. rockauto.com should carry everything you need.
