Default Which F250

Hi Guys

This is my first post.

I am looking to buy an F250, but there are quite a few variants available, so I thought I would ask you guys for the best advice. I’ll list what I am looking for and we’ll go from there.

Dual cab, 4x4 with high/low range if available, 7.3litre V8. Age and price irrelevant.

I will be using it to tour Australia towing a caravan, and the rear seats are for the kids. The caravan is 1,300kg braked. It will have a solid box on the back over the tray.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site.
7.3 is both diesel and gas V8’s, spanning a few years of old, and new builds. Assuming your meaning a later gas model?

Petrol is cheaper than diesel in Australia, so petrol would be better and lighter. There are a lot of early models available, so around 10 to 15 years old would be ideal and within my price range.

That isn't a very heavy caravan. While the 460 has a lot of torque, it LOVES gasoline. My '89 F250 with the 7.5 gets around 8mpg towing a trailer that only weighs 1300 kg braked. With the weight of your trailer I would suggest getting an F-150 with a small V-8. It should easily pull your trailer, be an extra cab and get decent gas mileage - far better than the big V-8. Also, beware of the V-10 as it gets worse gas mileage than the 7.5. I had one in an Excursion and it got around 6-8mpg.
