Default Payload on F-250 4x4 Lariat 6.2L

Hey Ford owners, I’ve been looking at the payload of an F150 but the payload stinks. I plan to purchase an Airstream with a max weight of 7,500 but a possible tongue weight of 1,200. Include my family of four and a big dog and I’m close to 1,800 payload capacity. I plan to carry normal camping accessories in the bed; generator, water, random crap, etc). I should be fine with the 250 (I assume). Does anyone have this model that could share the payload? Thanks! Andy

I have a 2019 F250 6.2L Crew Cab Stx 4x4, no FX off-road package, with Camper package, 4.30 gears, fifth wheel prep

payload is 3191,

Don’t get the diesel, your payload will drop substantially

Thanks Mark! That’s obviously more than enough. I have been looking for this model and I’ve been unable to find one anywhere in the country. I can order one but there’s a 6 month wait. PLUS, the dealerships near my house are selling ALL trucks at sticker price. No incentives or discounts. That’s frustrating as I know in the past, 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks were being discounted by up to $10/$12K. I’m wondering if I should just wait a year or two.

Andy,
At this point New & Used are hard to come by for sure and even for RVs it's not a good time to buy, with low supply and high demand no one is discounting below MSRP, and lastly RV pricing is rising as well. so instead of getting discounts of 25-30% now full price is the norm and increased price so you have to pay alot more more for RVs and trucks. It may take a year or two.
Good Luck
Mark

Great discussion. Our 2019 F250 Lariat, 2WD, 6.2L gas engine just completed a 5500 mile (550 gallons of fuel) trip towing a 26' Airstream. Agree with original poster that payload is important and our 3,500 lb payload provides alot of flexibility as we throw things into the bed of the truck. Not sure when 3/4 tons were getting such large discounts in the past? Perhaps on the fully loaded $80K+ models? We received 12% off after scouring the state of Georgia for the best deal in the Spring of 2019. Good luck with your decision and we agree that moving to a Super Duty. from a half ton makes towing so much less stressful! Yes, I park the truck at the back of large parking lots for ease of exit, but it is a small price to pay for the increased towing satisfaction.

Final point - why do half ton pickups advertise 10,000lbs or more towing capacity with a less than 2,000 lb payload? Seems crazy, since during our recent trip we saw few vehicles towing that weight with a half ton, plus we saw very few non-pickups towing double axle trailers.
