Default F350 stops running

Hello people! I have a big problem right now. went from germany to Paris with a school class but I can't drive back, where I live. The problem is, the bus(f350;1991; similar to the one at the picture) only drives for about half an hour, than it turns off and I can't drive on, as the motor doesn't start again. Already changed water pump/coolant pump. The warning lights near the steering wheel say temperature is alright (about 90 degrees celsius), but when I open up the cooling system and look for coolant liquid, it is simmering/bubbling. I dont know what to do. Thinking about it could be something with the thermostat. Maybe someone of u really knows the problem and may help solve it.

with best regards and thanks for ur help!

the problem you describe seems to fit the recall for the distributor ignition module. Some 1991 5.8 motors were found to stall unexpectedly as they warmed up,so there was a NHTSA recall requiring dealers to fix the problem...the distributor usually has to come out,and it's tight quarters work.

hey Gary, thanks for ur reply! you are sure it may not be something with the head gasket as well? (perhaps it is, I dont know).

Dont understand everything you wrote about NHTSA, so I have to ask.

"there was a NHTSA recall requiring dealers to fix the problem...the distributor usually has to come out,and it's tight quarters work. "

This is their homepage, right?: Home | National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

Does the distributor send someone who repairs the ignition module, when I call NHTSA?

How much will it cost or is it a case of warranty?

"it's tight quarters work" - sry, what does that mean - is it complycated or does it take much time to repair?

thank you!
