Default Fuel Gauge Issues

Hi, I have been having an issue in my 1986 Ford F-250 with the fuel gauge not reading out, I’m newer to working on fords and could use some help on where to start if anyone has any idea, thank you.

You need to be more specific. Is it stuck on empty, full or something in between? If you can remove the signal wire off the sending unit somewhere, the gauge should swing as far as it can to the full side. An open sending unit or a break in the wiring will have the same effect.You can also try tapping on the tank with a rubber mallot to see if the swing arm for the float is stuck.
