Default RE: heater hoses

The heater hoses connections are a 'quick' disconnect type.. Requires a special tool to be inserted from behind/around the inner coupler/heater tube to expand the locking tabs for a release.. Kind of the same thing as the fuel line. or A/C type release tools, but reach inside deeper. With some patients and fab work, you can use a 'split' piece of thin wall tubing, or plastic/nylon ect. the same inside diameter of the heater core tubing, and as long as it's the same OD/inner coupler diameter (or very close too for a snug fit) the function will be the same.. Usually you can get them off with something 'adapted' along with a slight twist to help with the release..
