Default Help as I checkout used 2017 F-350 with high miles.

Hello all. I’m looking at a 2017 F350 Lariat ultimate DRW tomorrow morning with 214k miles. I‘m pretty familiar with gas engines (do all my own work on our 2016 F150 EB, 2017 4Runner, rebuild Harley twin cams for fun, etc.). However, I have never owned a diesel truck or a HD truck. Lots of silverados and the current f150, but no diesels. Buying the truck to expand my business and to haul trailers and toy hauler type mobile office. Pretty set on a F250/350, and this 2017 popped up for what I think is a great price, even given the mileage.

Anyway, please help me!!! What are some key things to check when I go see this truck tomorrow? Obviously I’ll check oil and trans fluid, check frame, driveshaft and exhaust for rust issues (I’m in south Florida), check coolant levels, check brake pedal / gas pedal for west (less brake usually = more highway miles), and electronics inside the cab. What else is important or prone to fail in these trucks at this mileage?

Private seller. Price is low to mid 30s. Everything else around me at dealers are crazy high ($50-65k for trucks with 100-150k miles), and I really wanted a Lariat ultimate or platinum level trim. Based on location and google-fu, it looks like current owner used the truck to haul horses.

FYI I'm assuming your getting 6.7 powerstoke engine as for issues Ive have had is the EGR cooler clogging up and the crankcase ventilation clogging up the intake and causing poor performance think about venting the PVC out of engine. Turbo can be an issue at times I have one grenade on me and it cost me an engine rebuild at 10k so make sure you replace your turbo every 150k as for issues with the fuel system pump I would install a disaster prevention kit trust me it will save you bucks in the long run if your pump goes out. other issues include death wobble, google that issue. I found replacing ball joints and bushings help stop this issue oh and good shocks plus steering stabilizer. lastly rear axle bearings and seals do go out after 150k and need replacement. As for everything else this truck can pull anything you throw at it and keep you on the road. Best of luck,
P
