How much tranny fluid for c6

My pan is leaking and I'm going to pull it. I have to order the pan because nobody carries it. Going to replace the filter too. I just need to know how much fluid to buy? Also its a dump truck that I use for plowing should I get the deeper pan? If so how much more fluid would I need?

Have you tried an auto trans repair shop ? They probably have some sitting around and answer all your questions .

At the time it was leaking from both cooler lines. I had a quote for the pan and lines at $650. I did the lines for $35 in parts and two hours in labor. The pan is easier to do and cost maybe $80 in parts. So they were trying to rip me off.

I believe you misunderstood my post or I should have stated the suggestion clearer.
What I meant was for you to ask the shops for an old trans pan from a C6 since they probably have scrapped cases lying around. Whatever you would have paid for the pan might have included the answers to your questions.
In either case, I'm glad you were able to correct the leaks and changing the pan is pretty cut and dried. We generally do not use any kind of sealer or adhesive on the pan gasket just be careful and don't over tighten the pan bolts. Have a good day!.

I think a total fluid change (torque converter included) will put you up around 13 qts..mebbe a pint more or less depending on how much old fluid you can drain out of both the transmission and converter....

I picked up a 95 f250 4x4 7.3 diesel and am not sure what tranny is in it or if it's comparable with other ford motors

It most likely is an E4OD trans. There were several bolt patterns available. Check carefully should be able to find one that will mate.

A simple way is to see if 'OD' is indicated on the shift indicator...if so with the 7.3,you'll have the E4OD transmission...it's also stamped 'E4OD' on the bottom of the transmission oil pan
