Locating egr valve
So I have a 2001 f-250 SD w/ 5.4l gas and I am thinking about replacing the motor because it’s at 200,000 and change and has blown one plug out and continues to idle rough and is killing me on gas and performance...I found a suitable replacement that came off a 350 but i was told it doesn’t have the egr valve...I looked around the driver side exhaust manifold and didn’t see any type of valve or tube, which I was instructed to do...is there an easier way to determine whether I have an egr on my truck?

Here is where the EGR valve is located on the 5.4

Egr valve
Yeah mine doesn’t look like that..there is no assembly with that valve in that part of the engine bay, more is there anything coming out of the manifold...maybe I’ll take a pic

Check in that area if there is a blocking plate where the EGR valve would bolt on, some people remove the EGR system since its emissions related and people dont realize the EGR actually helps to cool the cylinders.
