Default Loss of current to fuel pump

1989 F350 7.5L No current to the fuel pump (and fuel pump relay) after driving about 25 miles in HOT weather. Must quickly find a safe place to pull over. This does not happen in cool weather (nights, early morning, etc.) After sitting about an hour, current is restored and it will run again for about 10 miles. Needless to say, this is very frustrating! NEED HELP!!!
