My 1999 F250 Super Duty V10 Gas Not Diesel isn't running right
About a month ago, my v10 black smoke started coming out of the tailpipe at a stop light and no power. I pulled into a parking lot opened the hood and didn't notice anything wrong. Turned the truck off and a few minutes later turned it back on and it seemed to run fine. What happened?
Secondly, when I'm driving and I lightly press the gas pedal, it vibrates and feels like it's sputtering. What is wrong here?
Just an FYI, the check engine light is not on so I don't think I will be able to hook OBD scanner to it and get anything.
Thanks for any help

There is such a thing as pending codes and a good scan tool will show these and also contain some freeze frame info that might reveal what is happening.
When we get black smoke it indicates an overfuel condition and there are many things that could be involved. Whatever is causing the problem is being reset when you shut the key off and reset the computer.
