Need for greater pulling power/torque
I own a 2003 F250 4dr. 4x4 V10 Auto Trans Lariat Super Duty and I need some advice. My GCW with the 5th wheel in tow is 21400 lbs. I have the std. 3.73 gear and I'm thinking about making a change to 4.30's Any advice either pro or con. Thanks.

Howdy Hayapower,
Definitely would change both frt. and rear gears. I've found out it's pretty spendy.... That's why I'm reach'in out. Want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Nothing has been done to motor except, downloaded SCT's program for gas tow rigs. Not a real noticeable change but some help. Tell me more about Gear Vendor Under/Overdrive if you don't mind?

Basically the GV is a splitter/OD.
It would take the normal range of gears and double the ratio options and no real need for OD while towing. Shift hunting, or up/down continuous outta OD is hard on the trans, heat is the enemy, and with the increase in gear selections torque and power ranges are easier to maintain. Empty, you may see an increase in fuel mileage which is popular with 10 owners. They don’t go cheap, but if the plan is to keep the truck for a long time, worth the investment. Plus, it can help sell a truck, or, can be removed and sold off if/when the time comes.
