Default overdrive

i have a f250 powersroke auto trans. my overdrive switch doen't turn off. sometimes i can wiggle shifter and push button at the sametime and get it to work . is this the button or is there a wire going thru the shifter. does anyone know how this works and do i have to pull the steering wheel to change it all

THE MOST COMMON THING WE SEE HERE IS THE WIRE GETS SLICED INSIDE THE SHIFTER AND CAUSES PROBLEMS

OH AND SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PULL THE WHEEL OFF JUST THE TOP COVER.
