Default Speed vs RPM 2000 E-450

New member, apologies if this gets in the wrong place.
I'm on the road in my motorhome built on a 2000 E-450 cutaway with the 6.8L v-10. I can monitor fuel consumption, rpm, etc with a scangauge.

Compared to previous trips, I'm getting about 20 -25% less MPG (7-8 versus 9-10) and it "feels" like the cruising RPM is too high.

Does anyone out there know what RPM should be when cruising at 60 mph -- or a least a range. I'm reading 2300 to 2600 rpm at 60 mph, depending on load.

Thanks in advance /noel/ (aka cyberskier)
