Starting issues with F-350 6.0 Diesel
I have a 2006 Ford F-350 6.0 Diesel Engine Truck. I am having real problems starting the engine after turning off the truck after it is warmed up. If I wait a couple hours it will start fine however. The battery is fully charged and cranking fine. The engine just doesn’t turn over.
I am able to work around the problem when I wait for a faint sound (which I think is the fuel pump possibly??) to stop. It is a quiet humming sound. Once that stops the engine will start no problem. I usually have to wait about 10-12 seconds for that sound to stop after turning the key to the ready position before I try to start the truck. I have the check engine light on and the check engine codes that are thrown are: P2286 - Injetor Control Pressure Sensor High and P2289 - Inector Control Pressure To High Any ideas? Thanks so much! |
The humming you hear is the lift pump. It is located on the drivers side frame rail below the drivers seat. It could also be an issue with the pressure regulator. Do you know if you have the updated blue pressure spring?

Sounds like the lift pump to me

If it's the lift pump, I have the onld one off my truck laying around since i put my airdog 2 on. When you turn the key to on, you should hear a humming from under the driver's door inside the frame rail. That's the lift pump.
