Default tire/wheel size change?

I currently have 18x10 Moto Metal's on the truck w/ 325/60R18 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's. The tire says they're 33x13.50 in flotation size. The wheels are corroding and I'm wanting to get new ones but want a tire w/ more sidewall that's not as aggressive w/out having to lift it to get a little better ride. It has a 2" leveling kit on it now. CanI go down to 17x10 or 17x9wheel and do a 35x12.50R17 tire or a 315/70R17 (35"I think) tire? It seem like, numbers wise, ifI go down a wheel size thatI can go up a tire size or 2 and be ok. They rub a little now when turning sharply, butI think that's b/c they're 13.50" wide. If I had something 12.50" wide they shouldn't rub. AmI wrong about any of this or just thinking stupidly w/ the numbers thing? I do realize thatin flotation sizes the tire is a bit shorter than what the number says. Any of you w/ tire size knowledge should be able to help, or any of you that are number crunchers. Thanks.
