my controller says trailer is connected then it goes disconnected ive checked fuses and even used a 7way pin checker and it shows trailer disconnected but rest of lights work just fine on my trailer, any ideas how to find whats wrong, or is my controller that came with the 2006 f350 bad?

i found a fuse under the hood which does the brake lights and turn signals for towing, no where was it in my repair or owners manual. found it by mistake seems to fix my brake controller also for connected / disconnected.
