Default transmissions

i have 99 ford sd diesel auto, o.d light flashes after 10 or more miles driven then come to stop and manual shirt from low to second then third, let truck cool down about 45mins. then ok till 8-10 miles.

sounds like you have an overheating tranny you should take it somewhere and have them scan for codes to give you a better idea of what your problem is

Do you have a trans cooler?

the tranny has a temp sensor called a TFT (trans fluid temp) and if it gets hot enough the sensor will set a code and that would cause the OD light to flash.

So if my TFT light does not flash im ok. I was told the light was for trans. codes not just temp?

Im just put a tranny in my truck and want it to last and not run too hot.
