I've got a 2000 F-350 7.3l Diesel 4x4. It's my favorite vehicle ever but I've got 140000 miles on it. Mostly I drive it on long drives, and it is time for an upgrade or two to the vehicle. I'd like to put in a nicer audio system than the stock system. I don't necessarily need a GPS but I wouldn't say no to one if it was reasonably priced. A way to plug in my iPod would be nice. I think I'd mount some bass speakers under the back seat. Not to "bass" (I hate that) but to enhance the sound. I know nothing about it this stuff and if I go to a car stereo dealer I am going to get "sold" something. I'd rather not have to deal with that or at least have some information when I go in there. How about it? Any suggestions?

I would also like to put in a "better" cold air intake. I put in a larger exhaust about 18 months ago and got much better turbo boost. Now I'm thinking about changing the stock air intake. I've heard it will also boost power while increasing fuel mileage. How about it? Is this true? If so what kind of intake is best?

Finally, my truck did not come with fog lights. I bought a cheap pair from a catalog retailer 4 years ago but they've failed now and I'd like to get a pair more like the stock ones. Suggestions??


I don't plan to ever sell this truck. My goal is 500,000 miles but I don't drive it that much and I'll likely be too old to drive before I turn over that number.

I've got a 2001 7.3 w/just over 200,000 on it. At about 100,000 I added a 4" turbo back Magnaflow. Later I added an AFE Stage 2 Proguard 7. I get a whole lot more "get up and go". It also increased my mileage by 2-3mpg. Got it off of ebay...took about 2 hours to put on (took my time). It was easy.
