Headlight Switch backlight bulb replacement
I noticed that the backlight in my headlight switch had burned out. Ford offers no replacement. I pulled the switch from the dash( very easy to do) and on the back of the switch is a bulb that 1/4 twists into place. Doing some searching on the net I cannot determine exactly what kind of bulb this is. Any help?

Never replaced one.. Bulb pull straight out? If so, like the old clock, radio backlight etc micro bulbs Ford used, there are two different candle power bulbs. It may say printed on the bulb. Looks like it’s suffered from some heat. May just be a lost connection, or bulb.. |
uncommon looking bulb for sure. Probably a wrecking yard project...
pain in the rear for such a small part |

These are called micro wedge base bulbs. There are 2 that look exactly alike, and either would work. One being a smidge brighter. A #74 which is 1.4 watt, and a #37 is 1.26 watt.. Generally the bulb number is printed on its face and with a magnifying glass visible., sometimes’ |
Thanks I will check it out

Those bulbs were from amazon . 50 pc 12v led 5mm. Only cost $8.56 and got them in 2 days. Perfect fit. Only took an hour start to finish . |
Went to several websites trying to find the exact fit bulb with neo wedge base. Found the exact bulb at JKL components . They were part # DNW1-EW33/30MM and were only $2.50 a pc. The only thing was that you had to purchase a lot of 10. So with shipping it was $32. Opted to replace the bulb with LEDs purchased from Amazon. The bulbs I purchased already had the resistance diodes attached and insulated. Just had to drill out the old base to allow the diode to thread through. The bulbs are polarized so if it doesn't light up just remove and reinsert the base 180 degrees, will light right up.
