Default Fans not working intermittently

I bought the Flex about two years ago as a second vehicle - it was in great shape and well taken care of.

One of the things the seller told me is that he recently had the fan unit replace because one of the motors were going out and that kept the A/C from working. So he bought a whole new unit including the PCM unit and that seemed to fix his problem.

Late last summer one of my kids started complaining that the AC stopped working - checking it, it was obvious that the A/C would not kick on when the fans were not spinning. I tried swapping the PCU out with the one of the older unit that came with the Flex, but not difference.

It got cooler and I hadn't gotten around to doing much else with it.

Well, last night the truck overheated - so I need to do something about it.

I find it hard to believe that the fans are bad again in just a couple of years.

I see complaints online - but few solutions.

Any thoughts?

Hood open, engine running, CAREFULLY tap on/hit the fan motor that is not working and see if it starts working then, Ive seen those fans go out after a few years, Luckily the radiator fan isnt hard to replace.
