Both the headlights in my Focus stopped working. I removed the headlight assembly and both sides had problems with the plastic and wire components that hold the lights in place. I ordered new headlight assemblies on Amazon and am waiting for them to arrive. A friend mentioned that with both lights failing simultaneously a relay or other switch might be involved as well. Any thoughts?

For my part, I have never seen a worse design than this assembly.

As it turned out, it was the headlight switch. On this model fog lamps and running lights operate independent of the headlights. Maybe this will help someone else.
