Default 2005 Focus wiring problem

I recently purchased a 2005 Focus for my wife and I had a remote starter installed. Unfortunately, due to a design defect, the remote key fob will not lock or unlock the doors while the car is running. I have never had this problem before as the remote worked at all times for all 4 of my Explorers, my Mountaineer, my E-150, my Town Car, and my Taurus. The remote starter technician tells me he's seen this before and that there is a way to fix the problem by pulling a lead on one of the electronic control modules. He hasn't dealt with it in quite a while and couldn't recall the details so he suggested I try asking on the Ford forums. Anybody familiar with this fix? Thanks for your help!

You know there is a certain amount of liability when disabling any safety features in a factory built vehicle. I think your source is probably aware of this and has a convenient lapse of memory.

I doubt it. Besides, this can't possibly be considered a "safety" feature. Its not like he's cutting out seat belts. In my experience, a remote that works all the time is more of a safety feature than one that only works part time. In any case, I was going to buy another Focus for myself but this defect is a deal breaker. Thanks for your input!

Fortunately safety features are not limited to seat belts.
The feature I was referring to was to prevent anyone from possibly having a child in the vehicle and accidentally locking the vehicle with the engine running.
