I can change the source to am/gm/usb/sync.
You can increase and decrease the volume and you see it go up and down.
Can you change the source to AM/FM/USB/Aux/Sync?
Does the increase/decrease volume buttons register when used?

Turn the radio on, set to a FM station, hold the skip forward & CD eject buttons down for a few second (dont remember how long), this should do a walk around test and set you into audio diagnostics.
During walk around test each individual speaker should emit a sound one at a time, I think there is a system test in audio diagnostics you could do but I am unsure of where it is located in the menu.
Can you do a sync update? that reprograms part of the APIM, you would have to ask someone else how to do that from home though.
Otherwise you can have a dealer run a on demand test on the ACM and APIM. We see a lot of weird issues with APIMs.
