My 2005 Focus wagon has developed several electrical problems in the lift gate. Wiper is jerky and stops, the electric release blows fuses as fast as they are changed and the rear defrost has stopped working. These have happened over several months. I have replaced the wiper motor but no change.

Is there a problem (like a short somewhere) that could cause all of these problems? Where would I look?
