P0113 code
I recently acquired a 2000 focus we wagon with 62000 miles. Last week I decided to replace spark plugs and wires, as one of the wires looked like it had been chewed. The car was running good on the 200 mile trip bringing it home. However, after I replaced the plugs and wires, now the p0113 code came up and won't clear. What would cause this and what do I need to do?
The PCM is interpreting higher than normal temperature of incoming air into the air filter box and air snorkel. There should be a sensor in/on the air snorkel to tell the computer of the temperature of the incoming air going into the throttle body. Did you disturb the air intake snorkel, disconnect the intake air temperature( IAT) sensor or air filter box when you replaced the plugs? Things to check would be a disconnected/loose plug on the IAT sensor. faulty IAT wiring, a faulty IAT sensor or even a severely blocked air filter. Far less common problems with the PCM computer or even the mass air flow sensor might trick the engine in drawing more air into the intake system. The sensor is cheap and might be worth replacing if you cannot find anything wrong.
