Default Squirrel caused Electrical Issues

Hey y'all,

Have a 2005 Focus that a squirrel took up residence in. Found him under my hood due to the rain from Hurricane Harvey. He caused a weird issue so wanted to get some advice on what might be going on.

On start, the windshield wipers come on; the switch to turn them on / change speed do nothing, wipers just go at a steady pace. Car runs fine otherwise and all lights come on.

When I tap the break, engine dies and the wipers stop moving. All other lights in the car stay on.

Take foot off the break and the wipers start moving again until the car is shut off.

Wanted to get y'alls opinion on how to tackle this before poking my head out in the rain in the morning. Any thoughts are much appreciated!
