F150,F250,or F350 when towing
Hey Guys n Gals, I can use some help in regards to towing a travel trailer. I'm not trying to be mean here but sometimes you get too many different answers from different salesmen. So, here is my issue. I currently own a F150 platinum with the full tow package. It supposedly will tow 11,300 pounds. We have a 38 foot pull behind and we are just under our limit. We travel slow and rarely do more than 4 hours of driving when moving. Our recent trip to Florida, from north Georgia, was nice and smooth. But, this fall we're heading up to South Dakota and within a couple of years we intend on moving up to a fifth wheel. We've been looking at going with a F250 or F350. According to some salesman we've spoken with they claim the new F150's will tow just as well through the mountains. From what I've read nothing beats the 6.7 diesel. So, anyone out there who tows a travel trailer or fifth wheel in the midwest and northwest id appreciate your input... Thanks

If the time comes to move to a 5th Wheel, don't listen to the salesperson. The numbers may be close, but the payload will not be. I had a 1 ton gasser until recently and moved to a 1 ton diesel. Both dually. If I was starting out I would get the diesel dually and then you have all the truck you will need. If I would have known I was moving to a diesel after buying my new trailer I would have gotten the next size up. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I can tell you driving out west is far different then down south. What you call a mountain or a hill there is closer to a real mountain out west.
