Default M5OD Transmission

I bought a 1995 F150 a few months ago with the 4.9 I6, and have since heard that the Mazda transmission has been known to have problems. What problems are common, how durable is the transmission over time, and what is a safe towing capacity? Thanks in advance.

It's a 95 model, any problem is possible. I suggest you google your transmission model. I did for curiousity and found nothing but bad things for a M5OD transmission. Too many to list ranging from fluid leaks and synchro issues etc. It appears to be a weak transmission. Your manual and door placard may give towing capacities. Myself, I wouldn't tow anything very heavy with a standard transmission because of fearing premature clutch wear.

Thank you for the reply. I mainly use it as a daily driver, but occasionally tow equipment. I will need to do more research.
