I have a 2004 freestar with 100,000 miles on it and when i do a lot of stop (3 or 4 miles, depending on the temp outside) and go driving it does not want to shift out of 1st gear until i let off the gas all the way, then it shifts into 2nd gear and goes into 3rd fine....

after it starts sticking in 1st gear, if i hit a few traffic lights green and come to a stop at say the 4th traffic light and hit that red it will shift fine until i start having to stop and go a few more times then it will start doing it again..

stuff done so far..

seal PCM
change filter and fluid
flush tranny
torque converter fixed under recall
has a seperate tranny cooler (not sure if deal installed or after market)

any more ideas?

 

It could be a sticky valve or a faulty solenoid.
