2005 Freestar
Hey all,
My wife drives a 2005 Ford Freestar 3.9L six cylinder. Today she called me at work and told me the car died on her while she was driving. I left work and went to where she was at. The engine runs fine except when you put it into gear the van doesn't move. You can step on the gas and hear the engine rev and watch the tach go up, but the vehicle remains motionless. When you move the shifter from park into any gear, you don't feel the "bump" of the tranmission shifting into gear. Whats more, no matter what gear (except park) the shifter is in, the vehicle rolls like it is in neutral. The tranny fluid looks fine, doesn't smell burnt. The transmission was flushed within the last 30000 miles.....no leaks........ No warning lights on the dash came on........any thoughts?

Yup! Similar thing happened to me. All it took to fix it was $3500. Input shafts are weak on these suckers. While you are in there, there are a few upgrades the tranny shop will know about. Do them all and switch to synthetic oil. You said the tranny was flushed? That was likely what started it, again, same thing happened to me. Don't flush these tranny's, drop the pan and change the filter and refill. I wish I had better news for you!
