I'm the original owner of a 2007 Freestar SEL which came with manual sliding doors and liftgate. I recently swapped from a 2006 model a working assembly of Power Sliding Door (PSD) and Power LiftGate (PLG) components including latches, modules, motors, switches, sensors, fuses, wiring, connectors and with the help of the Ford Workshop Manual and Wiring Diagrams Books made the corresponding installation and electrical connections to my van. I carefully de-pin all the donor wiring and added the new circuits to my van. The project was long but it went smooth.

Now the outcome, after the install used FORSCAN for the initialization procedure as indicated in workshop manual, both RPSD and LPSD responded the learning process and partially worked. The Power Liftgate didn't respond. The doors occasionally open and close when pulling the outside handle and also they close when using the pillar switch. The PLG sometimes work when pulling the outside handle. The overhead console switches don't work.

FORSCAN gave me the following DTCs for PSD
B2238 "Broken cable detected" which is not
B2483 "Enable Signal Circuit Open (Park)"
For PLG Power LiftGate couldn't get DTC because "Vehicle conditions are incorrect"

After that, all the Pinpoint tests were performed as indicated in workshop manual, the result is that system is operating normally which is not, however a couple of tests pointed me to PCM, which make me think the malfunction it has something to do with the original configuration which it is for manual sliding doors.

Since I was able to initialize the PSD functionality with FORSCAN I'm assuming the BCM was activated for PSD only, according to Workshop Manual the PLG module is not plug and play and it requires programming.

I'd like to know if there is a way to configure the As-Built codes of PCM to include both the PSD and PLG .

That's called coding. In short, setting your vehicle preferences at dealer's level.

1) Let say your 07 came with PSD and PLG but for whatever reason the modules became defective. When you replace just the two modules like that, you need to program the modules.
2) When your freestar didn't come with PSD and PLG, you will need to a) program the modules first, b) coding, to enable the PSD and PLG features.

Things partially worked simply when you have the harness connected. You have forscan you should be able to retrieve the value of your existing modules or some sort of hex codes. Just like registering a new battery with higher AH, you can see the info of your existing battery and able to click and select the new AH. Not sure about forscan, you might be able to simply select 1)YES 2)NO on PSD, something like that when forscan can do both programming and coding. Personally I only do coding/programming on BMW, not Ford. and I don't trust a work-in-progress software like forscan.

Also I've ordered a new scanner VXDIAG so I can run Ford Diagnostic software IDS 130.06

 

Worst case you might need to swap to another PCM if you can't code to switch from manual to power, it's not a limitation on forscan but another pcm is required in order to communicate with PSD and PLG, I hope not.
