Default Seat warmer parts

Hello everyone,

Just bought a 2004 Ford Freestar Limited and as would be predictable, the driver's side seat warmer barely works, while the passenger will toast you.

Ford wants $283 for a full seat cushion set with the warmer pre-installed. That's a bit rich for my blood just to warm my buns, so does anyone know of a quality alternative part that is available?

This may be a junkyard scrounge item if I can't find one for a reasonable price.

Bill

Welcome to the site..

Think a dismantler would be a good bet at a decent price. Problem there though, is sometimes they like to sell the seats matched.

I would suggest looking into repairing it yourself. I did this on a VW Golf TDI. I removed the seat cushion covering and with an Xacto knife cut back the sheathing over the warming electrical grid. I could see where the grid was frayed so I just soldered it together with a small piece of wire, and it worked perfect after that. From all the stretching the cushion takes it just broke, so better to repair rather than replace.

Thanks for the idea Mercury4ever, I think that sounds like the first option to try.

I bet you could google or youtube it and find all kinds of info on how to repair it.
