Default Time for another alternator

Well, fired the van up to go to work last night. Dash lights, high beam indicator, head lights and center clock back lighting seemed a little dim to me. Information display, radio and center column lights were normal brightness, tunes strumming away. Checked the roller switch and it was all the way up. Figured it must be my eyes since I only got a couple of hours sleep. Other than that, everything sounded and operated normal. Got about 2 miles from work listening to my tunes and WA-LA...The radio shuts off, several warning lights go on and the information display spits out some systems warnings...BUT...no alternator/charging warning. Get to work and pull out the DVM and get a fluctuating 11.37-11.69vdc output from the alternator. Installed an AUTOZONE alternator back in 2012 @ about 126,000 miles. Now have about 181,500 miles. It gave me almost 4 years and about 55,500 miles of service. Better than I expected. So...Off to AUTOZONE after work for another one.

Well, the Freestar/Monterey is still the easiest alternator that I have ever replaced. It takes longer to get the tools out to do the job then to actually do the job. It's like a 10 minute job (includes sips of coffee while it was snowing) to remove and install the alternator. Replacement unit is working fine.

Glad to hear that you got the alternator replaced, when its that easy to replace using aftermarket parts saves lots of money!
