Default What am I missing from the rear well?

Inside the rear well (that the rear seats fold into) on the rear side there is an opening about 2" square, obviously missing a plastic cover piece. Inside I can see a place for a bolt to screw into. Just wondering what this is for?

Yes, your plastic cover is missing. If you bought your van new, you would have had a plastic bag with a tether cable in it located with the jack. Or if used, it may still be with the jack. This is a safety retaining cable for your tire, if you were to get a flat. The cable would go thru the rim of the flat tire and screw into the spot you're talking about.

Thanks, that explains it. When i got it last fall, there was a mostly-rust cable sort of laying on top of the spare, which is also held up by a cable, but one with only surface rust. I pulled it free and tossed it. I guess someone left it there. Next time a local upullit gets in a Freestar, I will look for the plastic cover, of course its no big deal.

I bought my Freestar new and try to keep it as new looking as possible here in the salt section of Western NY. Even at 11 years old, the missing cover would bother me (Guess I'm **** that way) as I like everything to be where it should. Happy hunting...
