Default Hybrid Battery Damage??

Almost home the fuel pump on my 2012 Fusion Hybrid went out. I limped home and had the car towed to the dealer. They are replacing the fuel pump but said the hybrid battery is at zero charge. Should I expect the battery to have been damaged?

The only answer is after running the engine and the generator attempts to charge it will you know.

It is after all 7 plus years old and the batteries usually don't last more than 5-7 years. I hope you are sitting down when you get the price of a new hi voltage battery.

OK. I'm sitting down with Scotch and oxygen in hand. What is the expected cost of replacing such a battery and are there any options?

Some places will replace only the "Presently" bad cells to help save some $$$. That still requires some labor by a qualified shop to have that done if available there.

Hybrids are a good idea, but folks never ask about battery expected life or cost to replace.
The savings in gasoline consumption can be taken back with the cost of a new battery.

I see some companies online offering "refurbished" batteries with a 2 year warrenty for $1900 delivered. Has any had experience with one of these?

What does the 2 year warranty mean?
Does it mean if it craps out before the 2 year coverage they provide another battery for 2 more years or the time left on the 1st battery?
