Smile "mile-dometer" seems to be high...

Hi everyone
i have a 2006 ford fusion. I filled up my tank and the mile -dometer (is that the correct term?) went up and over 400 miles. never seen this happen. full tank usually gives a little over 280 miles. this just after receiving a jump this past thursday (battery went out, had it since 2008). any insight would be greatly appreciated.

That "distance to empty" value is calculated based on the tank size and the calculated average fuel economy. When the battery is disconnected, the average fuel economy is reset, so it takes a bit of driving until a new average becomes available. I would worry about this only if you'll see the same weird number after using up at least one tank of gas.

I believe Mr cougar_fan provided some good advice.
Just think, if that was really a true fact, over 400 miles on a tank full of gas . The oil companies would be knocking on your doors! (just kidding)
