Ford GT The car that dominated the european racing scene in the earlier days of American motoring, the GT40, has returned. but this time, for street use, the "40" has been dropped and the GT has become a supercar to battle along side the European Sports coupes.

i believe that it was something like the bal joints, or possibly a weld around the ball joints were failing under stress caused by high speeds

No.. It was actually a problem they found on a test car.
Believe it was one of the Rear control arms had a crack in it.
Don't think there were any problems with the production cars, but they recalled them anyways.

They actually drove to the owners of the GT and replaced the control arm with a beautiful billet replacement. (According to Car and Driver, Ford came out and fixed Jay Leno's GT)
