Default 2.3 interchange

can a 1993 2.3 be rebuilt using a 1988 crankshaft and the 8 plug head replaced by a 4 plug head
Im replacing the 1988 2.3L OMC motor which is a Ford Ranger engine in my boat, I found a 1993 8 plug engine that I understand is the same block but has smaller crank journals I wonder if the crank from my 1988 motor could be used in the 1993 engine

Default Going to get it this afternoon

I decided to go buy the 8 plug complete engine and put the 4 plug omc head on it with a new marine oil pump and marine gaskets and distributor

Is there any reason this wont work?
