Default 2000 Ranger still making noise

Trying still to find the cause of an annoying intermittent chirping/squealing at the rear of the engine. At times it will get to a very loud squeal then quit or go back to intermittent. When it does make noise the best I can locate is in the area of the bellhousing. I am thinking that I may have a cracked flex plate. Anyone ever come across this problem. It would sure be alot easier to locate if it were a constant noise but it won't cooperate.

You might try inspecting the CV joints as it may be an unlikely culprit.

That would be a good idea but it does this while idleing in my garage as well as when it's being driven. It appears that I am the only one with this problem so far. Thanks anyway

Manual? The throwout bearing or pilot bearing may be going bad.

Automatic trans. If it were a standard I would be convinced that it was the throw out bearing, kinda the same noise.
