2001 ford ranger Ball joints
Are you going to do it yourself? Your alignment ok everything ok just forget it. That boot is there for protection. So just replace them at the same time when you need service on the relevant components, otherwise there is absolutely no need to waste that kind of money. And depend on the condition, you can use grease and duct tape and fix it for the peace of mind.

Your safety and everybody around you on the road is at stake with a vehicle that could lose a critical part of their steering and suspension.
A joint that is allowed to dry out AND mix with road grit will not be a safe joint and will wear quickly.
Suggest you consider replacing the ball joints before they can cost you a lot more than replacement Replacement always is done in pairs.
They have been on there for over 20 years, not something to gamble with.
