Default RE: 85 xl 2.8 timing issue

Been quite a while since I played with the ole' 2.8 V-6.

The Ignition Control Module controls the amount of advance or retard so if there is none the ICM will probably need to be replaced.

Per my old notes: To set up the timing if not done, perform the following procedure

Proper procedure for setting the base timing.

Place transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL, A/C, Heaterand all accessories off.
Hook up your timing light to cylinder #1.
Disconnect the single wire connector near the distributor.
Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature.
With the engine at the specified rpm, adjust timing to specification (10° BTDC).
Reconnect the single wire connector to verify distributor is advancing beyond the base timing. [/ol]
Note: Setting the timing at 12° BTDC will make it run a little stronger and you can still use an 86-87 Octane fuel.
