Default 89 ford ranger 2.9L

hey my names brent, im new to this forum thing. i have a 89 ford ranger 2.9L, V6. when i start it, it wont idle down past 2000 RPM. i have cheked for vacum leaks, cleand all of my electrical plugs. IM not sure on the timeing. but seems to be correct. eany ideas on what it could be?

Have you cleaned your thottle body and throttle plate on both sides? Also have to cleaned and ensured that your IAC (Idle Air Controler) is working properly?

Here's something to look at...

Not sure if the wiring is running the same on the 89, but I had an issue on my 88 Ranger 2.9 that made the engine idle at 2500 RPMs. What I found was that there is a wiring harnes that ran over the alternator bracket and it had rubbed thru on my Ranger. The shorted wire was causing the problem. Just thought I would mention it.
